For
any of you missed Michael Marx's excellent Google talks at JGSGB
meetings (or want to hear them again), he
has combined and updated the
two programs and will be giving a presentation this evening
at the Boston Public
Library as part of their Family History Program. It's free and open to
the public.
Because of the larger-than-usual attendance expected, the program has
been moved to the Boston Room, which is
in the Johnson Building (use the Boylston Street entrance) and is
opposite the main Circulation Desk immediately on
the left..

Learn
how to take your research to a new level by making your Google searches
more successful. Google is a simple and helpful way to search the
internet, but are you getting just what you want or need? When you get
a promising looking return, do you know how to get the most out of it?
Did you know there are many more very useful things Google can do
beyond that simple search screen? These and many more questions will be
answered at the program. This presentation will also show you how to
use Google to find photographs and images of your ancestral town, get
maps for towns and regions of interest, translate documents in other
languages, connect with other researchers with similar interests, find
unique resource materials which can be downloaded, and some of the new
tools and finding aids coming out of Google Labs that allow you to
customize Google to your specific interests.
