Portraits of Zinkov Art Exhibit
The Portraits of Zinkov art exhibit at Hebrew College
includes the artist's recreation of the people of this Ukrainian
shtetl.
Photographs that appeared in the Zinkover Memorial Book published in
1966 served as
the models of a series of haunting portraits of the ill-fated
citizens of Zinkov, a village
in Ukraine totally annihilated by the Nazis. The artist, whose
grandparents lived in
that community, has undertaken this effort to memorialize the people
of Zinkov and,
through them, all of the lost shtetls of Europe. For more
information, see hebrewcollege.edu/events#zinkov.
