Problem-solve with others who can help show you the way. Learn how to
get started or get over that "brick wall" in your family
research. Attendees will be able to consult with more experienced members
for help with their family research.
A limited number of computer stations will be available, or bring your
own laptops for online research.
Roundtables will be dedicated to the following topics:
- Country and region-specific research (e.g., Poland, Latvia, Austria,
Czech, Galicia, Ukraine, Belarus, Romania, Moldova, Bessarabia, Germany,
Canada, United Kingdom, New York)
- Finding your ancestors using immigration, naturalization, vital, and
Holocaust records
- Getting started with Jewish genealogy (e.g., using the JewishGen,
Steve Morse, and Ancestry web sites)
- Translation of foreign-language documents (Yiddish, Russian, German,
French, Polish, Hebrew, Hebrew tombstones, Hungarian, Romanian,
Bulgarian, Czech, Spanish)
- Other: DNA; using genealogy software; digital photo-sharing
Genealogical reference materials will be available for perusal.
Bring in your research questions and your foreign documents for
translation.
Admission is free for members, $5 for non-members.
Refreshments will be served.

We encourage you to print it out and post copies in places where you
think it would attract attendees, such as synagogues, community centers,
supermarkets, etc.
