Genealogy websites offer free access to military records over Memorial Day weekend

To commemorate Memorial Day,  three genealogy sites are offering free access to their military records: Ancestry.com, FindMyPast and MyHeritage.  All three are paid-subscription sites that are making all or part of their military records available free for this commemoration.

 

Ancestry

 

Free access through May 27. Draft, enlistment and service records.  Ancestry military records

Ancestry also has a free downloadable research guide to their military records.

You will have to register with your name and email address—no further information is required. 

 U.S., World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917–1918

 British Army WWI Service Records, 1914–1920

 U.S., World War II Draft Registration Cards, 1942

 U.S., Department of Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death File, 1850–2010

 U.S., Civil War Draft Registrations Records, 1863–1865

 

FindMyPast

 

Free Access until May 27. FindMyPast military records

US and International (Australia, Britain, Ireland, New Zealand)  records,

You will have to register with your name and email address—no further information is required.

 

MyHeritage

 

Free access to their more popular US military records access through May 28.   MyHeritage military records.

You do not have to register to view records that are being offered free over the Memorial Weekend.
