 Introductory Meeting for Jerusalem Conference Attendees

Anyone who is planning to attend this year’s IAJGS International Conference on Jewish Genealogy in Jerusalem, July 6 - 10, is invited to get together with fellow attendees on Sunday, May 17 at 12:30.  The meeting will immediately precede our regular May program - see details below.

This special get-together will give conference attendees an opportunity to become acquainted with each other and discuss their plans. JGSGB members who have attended previous conferences, including Jerusalem, will also be present to provide advice and answer questions.

If you are planning to attend the Jerusalem Conference, or are still thinking about it, we encourage you to come and share your ideas, plans and questions!

Jewish Life in Lithuania Before the War

Jews in “the land of the Litvaks” lived alongside their non-Jewish neighbors for nearly seven centuries before the Holocaust. Ellen Cassedy, author of the award-winning We Are Here: Memories of the Lithuanian Holocaust (University of Nebraska Press, 2012), will explore the rich cultural history of Lithuanian Jews, including the social structure of a multi-cultural world, the daily lives of women and men in villages, towns, and cities, and the dreams, aspirations, and challenges faced by our ancestors.  More info
