JGSGB NEWS

Research Sundays
There will be 3 Research Sundays this year: October 25, January 31 & April 10.
JGSGB Local Special Interest Groups
Our society's five local Special Interest Groups (SIGs) help members advance their research by sharing information and resources about specific regions.

Belarus SIG covers the current country of Belarus. Coordinator: Sonia Lipetz, at belarus [at] jgsgb.org

Bessarabia SIG covers the region historically known as Bessarabia, a former Gubernia (province) in the Russian Empire, which is now in the Republic of Moldova with two small parts in Ukraine. The group also covers Transnistria (Pridnestovie) / Republic of Moldova, a self-proclaimed territory on the left bank of Dniester River. Coordinator: Yefim Kogan, at bessarabia [at] jgsgb.org

Litvak-Baltic SIG covers present day Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Coordinator: David Ellis, at litvak [at] jgsgb.org

Poland SIG covers modern day Poland. Coordinator: Steve Gordon, at poland [at] jgsgb.org

NEW! Ukraine SIG covers lands that were included in the nine Russian Empire Gubernii (provinces) that more or less overlap with the current territory of Ukraine. All but one were contained in the Pale of Settlement, where Jews were required to live until the 1917 revolution. Coordinator: Alan Shuchat, at ukraine [at] jgsgb.org
