Cemetery Project
Do A Mitzvah with JGSGB
In advance of our hosting the 2013 international conference, JGSGB has set the ambitious goal of recording and posting on Jewishgen (JOWBR - the Jewish Online Worldwide Burial Registry) all Jewish graves in Massachusetts. This will allow attendees to the conference to find and visit graves of their relatives here.
There are two major tasks: 1) taking photographs of graves at assigned cemeteries and 2) transcribing the gravestones from the photos in JOWBR's format. We will provide simple instructions for both tasks.
If you can help with one or both of these tasks, you will be doing a mitzvah with lasting results. Please contact Doug Cohen, the cemetery coordinator, at cemetery [at] jgsgb.org Email quickly, while your favorite cemetery is still available!!
