The JGSGB is working on two exciting database projects. Data will be put on the JewishGen website www.jewishgen.org for the entire world to see Boston area information for free.   

We invite you to be a part of these  projects.  No need to leave home to do the work. You just need basic computer skills to transcribe writing on images on screen into a spreadsheet such as Microsoft Excel. Just type in the information into the appropriate columns using the provided spreadsheet.
 
Seeking Kin - The Jewish Advocate

BRAND NEW!  One of  our JGSGB members found many ads “Seeking Kin” in The Jewish Advocate from 1916 to 1980.  These ads were placed by agencies assisting people in finding family and friends.  To help out write to Roberta Jaffer at jaffer [at] jgsgb.org

Cemetery Project

The objective is to list all burials in Jewish cemeteries in Massachusetts on the Jewish Online Worldwide Burial Registry (JOWBR).  Photographs of many headstones have already been taken with images on CDs.  The spreadsheet template and "how-to" have been prepared by JOWBR.  You don't need to know Hebrew (although it wouldn't hurt).

Right now we need transcribers. In the spring we'll also be looking for photographers.  To help out write to Sheree Boloker at cemetery [at] jgsgb.org
